Winter is a darkness product, not a cheaper flight

November to March is Northern Lights season and short daylight. The fare is often lower. The trip is a hunt and a pool, not a Ring Road. If you want waterfalls in the sun, book May–August and pay for it.

Frequently asked questions

Is REK the same as Keflavík?

REK is Trip.com’s Reykjavík metro code. The international airport is Keflavík (KEF). There is no useful scheduled LON–RKV hop for visitors — Reykjavík domestic is for the north and the west, after you have already landed at KEF.

How many nights do I need from the UK?

Four nights is the honest minimum for Reykjavík, a Golden Circle day and a lagoon. Two nights is a soak and a harbour walk. A week is when the South Coast or a Ring Road slice starts to make sense. Do not copy a ten-day blog onto a Friday-to-Monday fare.

Should I book Blue Lagoon on the way in from KEF?

Yes if you land before mid-afternoon and the slot is reserved. No if you land after dark or the flight is the last of the day.
